Why Behind The Mask?
The mask in Black theatrical and West African traditions has never been about hiding. It has always been about revealing — about stepping into the truth a person carries beneath the daily performance demanded of them. For the young artists, the families, the community: behind every mask is a story still being written.
On October 31, 2026, we will gather in joy, love, and grandeur behind masks, beneath chandeliers, beholden to musical rhythms, adorned in royalty.
This is not a gala. This is a homecoming. A reclamation. A celebration. A blueprint for the next twenty years.
