A NEW NATIONAL PROGRAM
From the theatre company that brought the August Wilson Monologue Competition to the world, comes the True Colors Next Narrative Monologue CompetitionTM; A new national program for high school students featuring the works of contemporary African American playwrights that gives opportunity, voice, and creative expression to all students.
The Portland Next Narrative Monologue Competition is presented by World Stage Theatre and is made possible in Oregon thanks in part to the support the 1803 Fund.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
This program serves high school students, grades 9 - 12 and is coached by industry professionals. Regionally, students progress through three rounds: preliminaries, semi-finals, and regional finals. The top two winners from each region participate in the National Finals, receiving an all-expense-paid trip to New York City. Where students meet industry professionals, see a Broadway play, and perform at the legendary Apollo Theatre.
